EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO RECOLOGY UNIT

Excursions are exciting educational opportunities for students. They allow students direct access to tools and environments that they otherwise wouldn’t have contact with within the four walls of their school. And one such Experiential Learning Experience was organized by MY Public School under the aegis of Science and Innovation Club (TECHNICIA) on Friday, 27 January 2023, where the students were taken to the unit of Recology Recycling India Pvt. Ltd situated at Sawana Pargana, Meerut, under the supervision of the school teachers Ms. Saba Sayed, Ms. Sangeeta, and Mr Suresh Kumar. Such experience solidifies learning and supports key academic theories of the students. They begin to see that what they learn in the classroom can help them solve real-world problems and this shapes them as people.
The training session was an enriching experience as students got an opportunity to learn outside the classroom. They learned about cleanliness and the recycling of E-Waste. Various mechanisms like Data Destruction, Recycling for Business, IT Asset Disposition, Decommissioning, and Refining, Recycling for Electronics, PRO, and EPR services were shown to the students. The students got a better understanding of how important it is to recycle E-Waste in order to preserve our environment. They also learned the importance of not 3Rs but 5Rs in their life i.e. Repeat, Recycle, Reuse, Reduce and Recover. A small quiz session was conducted by a resource person which was an interactive one, and to motivate students chocolates were given for every correct answer. In the end, the trip was a very informative and eye-opening experience for our students. It was an ideal way to how they can use their products wisely and in turn, protect nature from hazardous waste and thus make the country a pollution free country. Such excursion plays an important role in one’s life, introducing new skills and concepts to children to reinforce ongoing lessons and influence their learning potential.
